Willesley 2018

Willesley is a beautiful, spacious camp site in north-west Leicestershire, with many fine trees, not far from the end of the M42 motorway.

The weather for most of the camp was a little too hot for comfort, although the last few days saw some rain.

Ten of the 18 Scouts present were on their first summer camp with us, but they quickly got accustomed to our way of camping and learnt a lot of new
skills.

This was the first time we had a patrol of all girls, and they stood out for their tidiness and organisation.

The on site activities included the zip wire, tunnelling, and pedal go karts. Off site, the Scouts enjoyed snow boarding and related activities, kayaking
and paddle boarding, gorge walking and rock climbing, and a visit to Cadbury’s World.

Graeme and Cole led a splendid camp fire.

We had some delicious meals cooked by the Patrols; our new recipes this year were jollof rice, pan fried lamb, and turkey stroganoff.

Many badges were gained, including Outdoor, Adventure and Teamwork Challenges.
